Democratic VP Candidate, Tim Walz Reacts to the Trump Harris Debate
The Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, Tim Walz reacted to the Trump Harris debate etching out the sharp contrast between the two candidates. Walz marked out how Harris focused on a “joyful campaign” as opposed to Trump’s intent to divide Americans.

Trump Harris Debate: Kamala Harris and Donald Trump Clash in Their First Presidential Debate
Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump went head-to-head in their first ever presidential debate. Harris emerged the stronger candidate, focusing on the American people, as opposed to Trump who went on blabbering about the influx of immigrants in the country calling them “dangerous people“. You can read our analysis of the Trump Harris debate below.
President Biden Passes the Torch to Kamala Harris in Historic DNC 2024 Opening Night
President Joe Biden has finally passed the torch to VP Kamala Harris, in what was a historic opening night for the 2024 Democratic National Convention. In an emotional speech, Biden lauded Kamala for being a great partner and called for America to vote for her and Walz to ensure she continues “to lead America forward“. Trump Alleges Recent Hack Against His Campaign was Perpetrated by the Iranians & Intelligence Agencies Reportedly Support His Claims
GOP presidential candidate, Donald Trump’s campaign alleged that a recent hack against his campaign was perpetrated by the “Iranians”. Trump, who attended a campaign event in York on Aug 19th, reiterated the allegations recently via his campaign team. Trump and his team even went as far as to insinuate that the Iranians were also to blame for his foiled assassination attempt.

“The Iranians know that President Trump will stop their reign of terror just like he did in his first four years in the White House”, said Steven Cheung, a spokesperson of the Trump Campaign team. The Guardian reports that national intelligence agencies back Trump’s claims. [Aug 19]
Trump Holds Press Conference in New Jersey, Shading Biden and Harris
In a failed attempt to change tact, Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump held a press conference at his golf club in New Jersey, where he attempted to stick only to talking about the economy. Trump presented a wide-range of groceries and food items, going on to provide manufactured and false statistics on how the cost of basic goods has gone up in America—trying to show how bad the economy has gotten under the Biden/Harris administration. Polls indicate that the economy is the biggest election issue for American voters, hence Trump’s focus on the issue.

He also went on to shade Biden and Harris, saying that he is angry with them for trying to jail him—maintaining “I did nothing wrong“. He also claimed that he has a “gag order” from a judge in one of his cases. President Biden had earlier called him “Donald Dump” as he and Harris announced drug cost reductions. Trump also shaded Kamala, saying that she’s had all the time to effect legislations and policy changes she’s been campaigning on.
On being asked a question by the press on whether he feels he should change the campaign strategy of personal attack against his opponents, Trump said “I’m entitled to personal attacks,” and that Kamala and Walz called him “weird“. He also recognized that Harris has clawed back his lead in the polls saying, “I am leading, maybe tied“.
Trump’s resumption of taking questions from the press—and his holding of a second press conference in as many weeks—show that he feels the pressure from Harris’ growing popularity, and is in a crisis mode. This thought is bolstered by him bringing on board a former campaign manager.
Biden and Harris Announce Medicare Drug Cost Reductions
President Biden and VP Harris yesterday announced Medicare price reductions for medications, touting their efforts to ensure affordable healthcare for all Americans. They announced that recent Medicare negotiations have resulted in significant price reductions for ten widely used prescription drugs, offering substantial savings for millions of beneficiaries.
These reductions range from 38% for Imbruvica, used to treat blood cancers, to 79% for Januvia, a diabetes medication. The price cuts, which include essential drugs like Eliquis for blood clot prevention and Jardiance for diabetes and heart failure, will bring much-needed financial relief, especially for those relying on costly specialty medications like Enbrel and Stelara.
While these reductions mark a crucial step in making healthcare more affordable, their success depends on Medicare’s ability to maintain favorable terms with pharmaceutical companies without hindering innovation or access to essential drugs. Read more in the post below, including the full list of drugs affected by the price cuts. [Aug 16]

Trump Holds ‘Conversation’ with Elon Musk on X Spaces
Republican candidate Donald Trump held a conversation yesterday with billionaire Elon Musk on X Spaces. The discussion, which they emphasized would just be a ‘conversation’ was disrupted for some length, following a glitch.
My use of the word conversation is deliberate.
This is so that people understand how @realDonaldTrump talks when it’s a conversation, rather than an interview.
Nobody is quite themselves in an interview, so it’s hard to understand what they’re really like. https://t.co/H6G0RuwIM4
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 12, 2024
Elon termed the glitch a “DDoS” attack, which delayed the start of the conversation by nearly an hour.
There appears to be a massive DDOS attack on . Working on shutting it down.
Worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 13, 2024
The two talked for about 2 hours about their political standpoints. Listen to the conversation in the X post below.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 13, 2024
Elon Musk reportedly funded Trump’s campaign and the X space could have been just a way to hand Trump the platform and help campaign for him. Elon endorsed Trump publicly a while back, and the ‘conversation’ which he said was just a way for people to get to know him better appears just as campaigning for him.
This is the long version. Shorter edit of highlights coming soon. https://t.co/Ksm6UqdIq6
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 13, 2024
Musk said that he would “be happy” to host Kamala Harris on X Spaces too.
Happy to host Kamala on an Spaces too
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 13, 2024
Americans are waiting to see if she’ll take up the offer even as she is seen to not be a fan of Elon. Especially, since he’s been campaigning for Trump so publicly and criticizing Dems.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 12, 2024
We wrote a detailed breakdown of the entire 2-hour conversation, and you can read it below. [Aug 12]

Trump’s Campaign Team Says He Was Hacked
Trump’s campaign team says that the Republican candidate’s campaign was hacked and sensitive information stolen by “foreign entities” adversarial to America. The campaign didn’t clarify who carried out the hack but alluded to Iranians without providing any evidence.
These events are strange as Politico recently reported getting sensitive Trump campaign data from an unknown person or entity. Microsoft had also reported an Iranian hack on a prominent political figure, without providing any details. Trump’s campaign alluded to Trump being the one who was being referred to by Microsoft. Microsoft has been flailing in cybersecurity of late, especially since last month’s global IT outage.

Kamala Harris Confronted by Pro-Palestine Protestors
At the same time, Democrat candidate Kamala Harris has come under a lot of interruptions by pro-Palestinian protestors during her rallies. She initially got agitated and told them, “I am talking“, a few days back.
However, after backlash on social media, Harris was more measured and kind yesterday telling pro-Palestine protestors that she supports an Israeli “ceasefire“. There have been growing calls for a ceasefire in the Israeli war on Gaza, especially since an Israeli attack on a school claimed over 100 lives in Gaza City.

Trump: “Kim Jong Un Liked Me A lot” as He Blamed Harris for the Country’s Immigration Crisis
Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump boasted of Kim Jong Un’s love saying that “Kim Jong Liked Me a Lot“, during a news conference at Mar-a-Lago where he also said that World War III is a possibility.
Trump had also said, “he [Kim Jong Un] would like to see me back too. I think he misses me if you wanna know the truth“, during his acceptance speech at the RNC.
Trump Attacks Kamala Harris’s Intelligence
Trump also questioned Harris’ intelligence saying, “She’s not doing any news conferences.. you know why she’s not doing any news conferences? She doesn’t know how to do a news conference. She’s not smart enough to do a news conference“.
Trump blamed the current US migration crisis on Harris saying her immigration policies would be a “danger” for America. He then went on to say how countries like Russia, China, and North Korea do not respect America anymore, and that it could lead to World War III. “We are in great danger. We are in great danger of being in World War III… that could happen“, he said.

Harris and Walz Meet Union Workers in Michigan
Elsewhere, Kamala Harris accompanied by her running mate, Tim Walz met with union members of Wayne County in Michigan and urged them that strength is not putting others down but raising them up. “The true measure of a leader is not based on who you beat down, it’s based on who you lift up!“, Harris said.
She said that togetherness is strength, and that’s what even unions believe saying, “it’s about the collective“, a message that resonated well with the members. She made the comments while speaking on the importance of leadership. [Aug 9]
Kamala Harris Says Trump Has “Committed” to Debate Her on September 10
Democrat presidential candidate, Kamala Harris revealed that Trump had committed to debating her on September 10. Kamala wrote “I hear Donald Trump has finally committed to debating me on September 10“, in an X post on Thursday. She added, “I look forward to it”, expressing her enthusiasm to face off with Trump at the debate. [Aug 8]
I hear that Donald Trump has finally committed to debating me on September 10.
I look forward to it.

Kamala Harris Unveils Her VP Pick: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz
Kamala Harris has unveiled her running mate pick and she chose Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz. Walz, a seasoned politician, former National Guard Officer, and a former teacher, recently went viral for calling Trump and his running mate J.D Vance “weird“. Read more about the announcement of Tim Walz as Harris’s VP pick below. [Aug 7]

Kamala Harris Narrows VP Choices to Two Finalists
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has narrowed her search for a vice-presidential running mate to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Harris is expected to announce her selection by Tuesday, just ahead of her first joint appearance with her running mate at a rally in Philadelphia. This decision is critical as Harris hastily builds her campaign to challenge Republican nominees Donald Trump and U.S. Senator JD Vance in the upcoming election.
Governor Josh Shapiro
Governor Josh Shapiro, a rising star in the Democratic Party, is considered a strong contender due to his high approval ratings in Pennsylvania—a crucial battleground state with 19 electoral votes. Shapiro, a former state attorney general, would make history as the first Jewish vice president if selected.
His strong support for Israel could attract moderate voters but may alienate some progressives. His selection could help Harris secure Pennsylvania, a must-win state for both parties.
Governor Tim Walz
Governor Tim Walz, another finalist, has gained attention as a strong advocate for Harris, attacking Trump and Vance with a viral insult that resonated with voters. Walz’s background as a former U.S. Army National Guard member and teacher, along with his experience representing a Republican-leaning district, makes him appealing to rural and white voters. Despite Minnesota being a solidly Democratic state, Walz’s progressive policies and appeal in neighboring battleground states like Wisconsin and Michigan make him a strategic choice for Harris as she looks to build a winning coalition.
Jenna Ellis to Cooperate in 2020 Election Subversion Case
Former Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in the 2020 election subversion case involving fake electors in Arizona. In return, nine felonies against her, including fraud, forgery, and conspiracy, will be dismissed. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes called the agreement a “significant step forward” in the case.
Kamala Harris’ Running Mate: Final Stages of Selection
Vice President Kamala Harris is on the verge of announcing her running mate, following an intense weekend of private interviews and deliberations at her residence in Washington, D.C. The final contenders for the position include Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly.
Harris aims to maintain secrecy until the last possible moment, with plans to reveal her choice via an online message to her supporters before a rally in Philadelphia. This selection process echoes the strategy used by Joe Biden when he announced Harris as his vice-presidential pick in 2020.
Trump Escalates Rhetoric as Harris Surges in Polls
In a series of inflammatory social media posts, Donald Trump targeted Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her as “low IQ” and “dumb” after she out-fundraised him and gained a lead in key battleground state polls.

Trump’s attacks, which many in his party fear could distract from more impactful issues like immigration and inflation, followed his decision to back out of a planned ABC debate with Harris. Harris responded by highlighting Trump’s retreat from the debate, further fueling the escalating tensions in the 2024 presidential race.

Harris’ Vice Presidential Vetting Process
Kamala Harris began the crucial process of selecting her running mate with in-depth presentations on several finalists, including notable figures like Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. The vetting process was rigorous, reflecting Harris’ methodical approach to decision-making. Her running selection is pivotal, as it will define her campaign and could significantly influence her potential presidency.
Trump’s Tax Cut Promise Lacks Financial Plan
Former President Donald Trump has reiterated his promise to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits but failed to specify how he would compensate for the lost revenue. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that he would target “waste and fat” in the federal government to make up for the deficit. Analysts estimate that eliminating these taxes would add between $1.6 trillion and $1.8 trillion to federal deficits by 2035 and accelerate the depletion of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds.
What to Expect in the Final Dash to Election Day
The 2024 election cycle, marked by unexpected developments and intense political drama, is rapidly approaching its climax. Kamala Harris, having secured the Democratic nomination early, now focuses on selecting her vice president before the Democratic convention in Chicago.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump faces significant challenges, including a possible debate in September and a looming sentencing date related to past legal issues. As early voting begins in October, the nation braces for a potentially contentious Election Day on November 5, with the possibility of legal battles and recounts extending the process beyond the initial vote count.
Trump was already on a good footing, having beaten Biden squarely in their last debate but his entire campaign went back to the drawing board when Biden pulled out.

Federal Judge Sets Date for Trump’s Election Subversion Case
The federal judge overseeing Donald Trump’s election subversion case, Judge Tanya Chutkan, has scheduled a hearing for August 16 to discuss the case’s next steps. This follows the Supreme Court’s decision to grant Trump broad immunity for official acts as president.
Chutkan dismissed Trump’s arguments that the case was an unfair prosecution, emphasizing that Trump is being charged for making false statements and obstructing election certification, not for merely questioning the election results.
JD Vance Responds to Criticism from Harris Campaign
Republican vice-presidential nominee J.D Vance dismissed criticism from Kamala Harris’ supporters who labeled him as “weird,” calling it “projection.” Vance, who has faced opposition even within the GOP, told Fox News that he considers such criticism a “badge of honor.” He emphasized that the real issue is Harris’ record and policies, stating that her choice of a running mate will not mitigate these problems.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Central Park Bear Cub Incident
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed in a video that he once placed a dead bear cub in Central Park a decade ago. Kennedy recounted that he found the bear in upstate New York and initially planned to skin it for its meat. However, after a change of plans, he decided to stage the bear in Central Park, leading to media coverage and a police investigation. Kennedy’s recounting of the incident, which he laughed about, is expected to be featured in an upcoming article by The New Yorker.
UAW President Endorses Harris-Beshear Ticket
United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain expressed his strong support for a Kamala Harris and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear ticket, calling it “unbeatable.”

Fain, speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” also praised Minnesota Governor Tim Walz but raised concerns about the other potential candidates, particularly Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, citing issues with their labor policies. The UAW’s endorsement of Harris, which came last week, solidifies its influence in the critical battleground state of Michigan.
Senator Laphonza Butler Condemns Trump’s Comments on Harris’ Race
Democratic Senator Laphonza Butler criticized Donald Trump’s comments on Kamala Harris’ race, calling them “an insult” and “despicable.” Butler’s remarks came in response to Trump’s false claim that Harris “happened to turn Black” in recent years.

Butler, a close ally of Harris and the only Black woman currently serving in the Senate, underscored the significance of Trump’s rhetoric in the context of his broader campaign strategy.
GOP Representative Dismisses Controversy Over Trump’s Comments on Harris’ Race
GOP Representative Byron Donalds downplayed the controversy surrounding Donald Trump’s comments on Kamala Harris’ racial identity, calling it a “phony controversy.” During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Donalds argued that Harris’ mixed heritage had been a prominent topic since her Senate tenure, challenging the notion that Trump’s remarks were out of line. The exchange highlighted ongoing debates over race and identity in the 2024 election.
Harris Involved in Decision to Send Military Assets to the Middle East
White House officials confirmed that Vice President Kamala Harris played an integral role in the decision to send additional military assets to the Middle East following the killing of a Hamas leader in Tehran. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that Harris was “absolutely” involved, as the U.S. and Israel prepare for potential retaliatory actions from Iran or other adversaries.

Kamala Harris’ Stance on Key Issues
As Kamala Harris ramps up her presidential campaign, she has outlined her positions on critical issues such as abortion, the economy, healthcare, and climate change. Harris has been a leading advocate for abortion rights following the overturning of Roe v. Wade and has championed economic policies focused on making healthcare, childcare, and eldercare more affordable.

Her evolving stance on healthcare now favors a government-backed system without eliminating private insurance. On climate change, Harris has a long history of environmental advocacy, although she has recently softened her position on a fracking ban.
GOP Senator Opposes Pardons for January 6 Rioters
Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin voiced his opposition to pardoning January 6 rioters who attacked police officers, despite Donald Trump’s recent comments suggesting he would do so if re-elected.
Mullin, a strong Trump ally, argued that while the FBI and media were wrong to label some rioters as domestic terrorists, those who engaged in violence against law enforcement should not be pardoned.
What Happens If There’s a Tie in the 2024 Election?
In a scenario where Kamala Harris and Donald Trump both secure 269 electoral votes each, the 2024 U.S. presidential election could result in a tie.
In the event of a tie in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the outcome would be determined by a “contingent election,” as outlined in the 12th Amendment to the Constitution. Here’s how this process would unfold:
Contingent Election Process:
- House of Representatives chooses the President:
- If no candidate receives the required 270 Electoral College votes, the decision goes to the House of Representatives. Each state delegation in the House gets one vote, with a majority of 26 votes required to win the presidency. This means that the election would not be decided by the overall number of representatives, but rather by the majority within each state’s delegation.
- Senate Chooses the Vice President:
- The Senate is responsible for selecting the vice president. Each senator has one vote, and a majority of 51 votes is needed to win. This situation could lead to a president and vice president from different parties if opposing parties control the House and Senate.
Historical Precedent:
- The only time a contingent election has been used was in 1800, between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr. Due to a tie in electoral votes, the House of Representatives decided the outcome, eventually electing Jefferson as president after multiple ballots.
Potential Scenarios for 2024:
- For a tie to occur, a specific combination of state wins would be needed, such as Vice President Kamala Harris winning key states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada, but losing others like Pennsylvania and Georgia. This would result in a 269-269 tie, forcing a contingent election.
Implications:
- A tie scenario introduces significant uncertainty, as the outcome would depend on the political composition of the newly elected Congress. This situation could heighten political tensions and prolong the final resolution of the election.
Understanding the contingent election process is crucial, as it highlights the complexity of the U.S. electoral system and the unique challenges posed by a tie in the Electoral College.
Over Two Weeks That Reshaped Trump’s 2024 Campaign
A tumultuous 19-day period has dramatically reshaped Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, challenging his previously clear path to victory. During this time, Trump faced renewed scrutiny, particularly after off-script remarks and controversies surrounding his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. Trump also faced an unprecedented assassination attempt, that he managed to turn to a show of strength.

Read more about Trump’s Assassination Attempt and how he used it to show strength
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris rapidly secured the Democratic nomination, bolstered by strong fundraising and party support. This swift shift in dynamics has added uncertainty to what was once a predictable race.
Republicans for Harris: A Strategic Move to Appeal to Anti-Trump Voters
A group initially known as Republicans for Biden has rebranded as Republicans for Harris, aiming to draw anti-Trump voters and moderate Republicans into Kamala Harris’ camp. The initiative includes outreach efforts, targeted ads, and themed events in key states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
High-profile figures such as former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld and former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham have already signed on, indicating a broad appeal beyond traditional Democratic voters.
Harris vs. Trump: A Tight Race
Recent polls show a close race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, with Trump holding 48% support and Harris at 49%. The polling reflects a highly competitive race, with voter turnout likely to be a decisive factor. The CBS News/YouGov poll within the average indicates a near-even split among likely voters, with Harris showing slight improvement compared to previous polling.

In this article, we ask whether Kamala Harris will beat Donald Trump, arguing for both the affirmative and negative
