Bayern Munich yesterday kicked Manchester United off the UEFA Champions League after they beat the ‘Red Devils’ 1-0 at home in Old Trafford. Here’s how it went down.
Kingsley to the Chase
Bayern Munich, already qualified for the next stage of the UCL, managed to kick Manchester United off the UCL after beating them 1-0 at Old Trafford, thanks to a Kingsley Coman goal in the 70th minute. Coman’s impeccable strike was assisted by former Tottenham captain, Harry Kane who was back playing on English soil for the first time since transferring to Bayern and the Bundesliga.

A Woeful Man Utd
Despite needing at least 3 points to qualify for the UCL Round of 16, Man United failed to invigorate their side, losing out in the must-win match and seeing them finish bottom of their group, Group A. This is the second time that United have finished bottom of their Champions League group only having done so once in the 2005-06 season.

Pressure on Erik ten Hag
Perhaps the one bearing the brunt of the momentous loss is Man United’s manager Erik ten Hag, who’s been under mounting pressure to do better as United have continuously flailed for a while now. ten Hag is an impeccable manager but he just can’t seem to find the magic sauce to bring Manchester United back to its glory days.
UCL Group Stage Group A Results
The qualifying teams from Group A for the round of 16 are Bayern Munich, with 16 points, and Copenhagen who have 8 points. Copenhagen managed to secure qualification after beating Galatasaray 1-0 yesterday and making it impossible for Man Utd to qualify. Galatasaray, who’d mounted an impressive comeback against Man Utd in Matchday 5, ending the match 3-3, also didn’t qualify and finished third in Group A with 5 points. Man Utd finished bottom of the group with 4 points.
