The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in July 2020. She admitted suffering “undeniable grief” and knowing that she was losing her second child while holding her first. She also said that the miscarriage had brought a lot of unwarranted shame and broke her husband’s heart. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, was very supportive of the Duchess and the miscarriage brought them even closer.

“The Losses We Share”

According to Meghan Markle, as she picked up her first-born son Archie from his crib, she felt a sharp cramp. In her own words, “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.” Meghan made the revelation in a piece titled “The Losses We Share” in The New York Times. The piece is a moving recollection of the struggles women face in the immediate aftermath of suffering a miscarriage.

Meghan Markle felt inclined to share having suffered a miscarriage as a way to encourage other women to talk about suffering a miscarriage. She said that conversations about miscarriage remain “taboo”. She said that she and her family were moving on from the trauma even as it is still “raw”. Other high-profile women who have revealed having suffered a miscarriage include Michelle Obama, Chrissy Teigen, and Prince Harry’s Cousin, Zara Tindall.

Meghan: “[Harry’s] Heartbreak as he Tried to Hold the Shattered Pieces of Mine”

Meghan Markle also said that the miscarriage had broken Harry’s heart and that she lay in a hospital bed watching Harry’s “heartbreak as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine”. Meghan is the first black member of the British Royal Family and recently left official royal duties along with her husband, Prince Harry.

Prince Harry is one of the two sons of the late Princess Diana, Princess of Wales. Prince Harry and Meghan left their official royal duties and also their Royal Highness titles. They left Britain and went on to live in Canada. They are said to be looking to get into a commercial lifestyle where they will work on numerous projects, including their charities.

Harry’s Union with A Remarkable Meghan Markle

Meghan is a former Hollywood actress who became popular in her role in the TV series, Suits. She got married to Prince Harry in May 2018 at a colorful wedding in the United Kingdom. They were blessed with a son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in May 2019. The couple and their relationship have been seen as a 21st-century interpretation of a changing British Monarchy.

The extent of this change is, however, increasingly in doubt as the British Royal Family remains very much resolute in tradition and maintaining its stature. Harry and Meghan’s move to leave their royal duties was seen as a continuation of the rebel and maverick nature of Princess Diana. The Late Princess’s memory lives on in her son and his unconventional approach to life within the royal family.
