Despite our absence for a few weeks, the EPL has been heating up quite tremendously culminating in an EPL GW 12 clash between Manchester City and Chelsea. The two teams locked horns in what was an epic match that saw us at the edge of our seats. Here’s all the action plus EPL GW 12 results.

Quadruple Duple: Man City Lock Horns with Chelsea in an Epic GW 12 Match

Things started as we’d not expected, with both Man City and Chelsea looking very lively and eager to score. We were getting a hint of the exothermic reactions that would come from this game but had no idea the epic clash that was awaiting.

Goal Machine Erling Haaland thrust himself at goal and was brought down by Cucurella in the box, triggering a 25th-minute penalty that he so gracefully converted. Before long, 39-year-old Thiago Silva equalized for Chelsea in the 29th minute, via an impeccable bullet header, becoming the oldest player to score in the PL since Ryan Giggs. 1-1 was the score and on went the fiery clash of titans.

Come the 37th minute, Raheem Sterling put Chelsea ahead in what was a sublime tap-in.

It wasn’t long, however, until Man City’s Manuel Akanji equalized for the defending champs with a swift sure-stricken header in 45 + 1’.

Haaland Double

As if the Nordic ponytailed-gods in Valhalla were watching the game, Erling Haaland then went in with another impeccable strike, this time putting Man City 3-2 ahead.

On the game went for halftime, with the Valholl-based gods seemingly happy with their descendant.

Come the second half, New Chelsea star, the unstoppable force that is Nicolas Jackson equalized for Chelsea, putting them level with the defending champs in the 67th minute.

Super-Not-So-Super Captain

City weren’t relenting, however, with Super Captain Rodri putting in their fourth in the 86th minute. The tides of luck somewhat shifted for the captain and his team, nonetheless, when he conceded a penalty in stoppage time.

Cole Palmer stepped forward to take the kick and was sure to deny Man City a 4-3 win thanks to his impeccable conversion. Cole Palmer strew the penalty in on 90 + 5’ confirming that Manchester City had effectively denied themself a momentous three points, having to contend with bagging only one.

Liverpool Sting Brentford

Perhaps in a case of the bee getting stung, Liverpool beat Brentford 3-0, marking a re-entry of ‘the Reds’ to the league title contenders book for this season.

Mo Salah Brace

The magic happened thanks to a Mohamed Salah brace that kicked off with his first goal in the 39th minute, a quickly executed wonderfully put across left bottom corner goal, and followed by another sublime one, this time a header in the 62nd minute. Before the dust could settle and ‘the Bees’ could get some more honey for strength, however, Diogo Jota put in Liverpool’s third in the 74th minute.

Man United Salvage a Win Eluding Embarrassment Against Luton Town

As if in a case of the baby breathing but not showing much movement, a flimsy Man United (in this case the baby) managed to rescue itself from embarrassment after managing to edge out Luton with a single goal. This time United were saved by Victor Lindelof’s strike in the 59th minute, and Luton Town’s lack of smarts.

Arsenal Shine Against a Not-So-Impressive Burnley

Come to ‘the Gunners’, the team shined against a benign and unimpressive Burnley, beating them 3-1 in EPL GW 12. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring for Arsenal in 45 + 1’, before Josh Brownhill equalized for Burnley in the 54th minute. Arsenal weren’t done, however, with William Saliba breaking the deadlock with an impressive strike in the 57th minute.

Impressively, Arsenal were still not done, this time Oleksandr Zinchenko scoring their third and final goal in the 74th minute. ‘The Gunners’ played really well, as we’ve come to expect them to, despite finishing the game with 10 men after Fabio Viera was sent off in the 83rd minute.

Other EPL GW 12 Results

In other EPL GW 12 results, West Ham beat Nottm Forest 3-2, Brighton drew Sheffield United 1-1, Aston Villa beat Fulham 3-1, and Everton beat Crystal Palace 3-2. In what was the week’s most shocking result, Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Wolves, prompting their residence in the ‘Other results’ section.

EPL Standings

Like a top 5 list of the best operas in the world, the usual candidates dominate the top 5 of the Premier League standings thus far. First are Man City with 28 points, followed by a close second, Liverpool, with 27 points. Third is Arsenal, also with 27 points, followed closely by Tottenham with 26 points. Fifth is Aston Villa with 25 points. The rest, as history has constantly said, is history. Enjoy!
