There has been a lot of discussion lately, regarding United’s forward Marcus Rashford’s falling out with new coach Ruben Amorim. On the one hand, Rashford believes he’s giving his best to the team while his coach, on his side, sees Rashford as not giving his “maximum”. The two have since fallen out, with Rashford missing the last two months of the latest Man United games this season. In this article, we ask, should Marcus Rashford leave Manchester United and is a Rashford Transfer imminent?
The Amorim Way
Whenever any coach joins a team, they bring with them their style of doing things, essentially their style of play. Ruben Amorim’s style flourishes in the 3-4-2-1 formation, which is, unfortunately, not what Rashford is good at.
Beyond the pitch, Ruben Amorim also expects a certain hunger in his squad, and for him to include a player on the first 11, he must see that they are really giving their maximum best.
Since United is not short of talent, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Zirkzee, Lisandro Martínez and the rest, a player like Rashford would end up on the bench if he does not meet the standard of training and play the coach expects. That is exactly the cause of the ‘Amorim-Rashford beef’ as some may call it.

The phenomenon is nothing new, however, and even in Man United, it is not that long ago since former coach Erik ten Hag fell out with star player Jadon Sancho. Sancho’s misstep was his bad attitude towards the coach and ironically, he was transferred to BVB and excelled, even advancing to the UCL 23-24 final.
Bad Attitude
When a new coach such as Ruben Amorim arrives at the club, he expects the players to abandon their own notions of self-grandeur and to get on the pitch running; both metaphorically and literally.
As an individual who’s coached football and knows what makes a player really good, beyond the fame and money, Amorim expects a certain caliber of worker as he looks for the main characters in his vision squad.
When the coach then comes across a really good player such as Rashford, who has immense potential but lacks the drive to push themselves to be their ultimate self, then he is very disappointed, as is human nature. For Rashford to remain an integral part of Man United, Amorim believes, he must drop his bad attitude and step up to the plate humble, and ready to be molded by him.

It’s gotten to the point that even commentators are saying that Rashford has been conducting a ‘PR’ exercise in the media since he was benched, saying how much he loves the team. For Amorim, things will change between them only when he himself sees change in Rashford’s training and attitude.
Amorim shared that Rashford’s attitude is not that of a player giving his “maximum every day”. He further went on to say: “It’s always the same reason: the training, the way I see a footballer should do in life. It’s every day, every detail,” explaining the unavailability of Rashford.
Amorim added, “If things don’t change, I will not change. It’s the same situation for every player, if you do the maximum and right things we can use every player.”
The Man United coach even went as far as to say that he’d prefer the 63-year-old goalkeeping coach over a player that is not giving their all. He said, “You can see on the bench we miss a bit of pace on the bench. But I would put [Man Utd goalkeeper coach Jorge] Vital before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.” [Source: Sky Sports]
Rashford Transfer: Is it Time for Marcus Rashford to Leave Man United?
On his part, Marcus Rashford shared that he is “ready for a new challenge” seemingly disinterested in remaining at the club. As the current transfer window draws near to its close (on Feb 3), sources say that Rashford’s differences with coach Amorim, as well as financial reasons, have pushed him to seek a way out. The caveat, however, is that Rashford is eyeing Spanish-giant Barcelona as his club of choice. Barça, on the other hand, are somewhat held up and cannot afford to even acquire Rashford’s services on loan.
Will Rashford be Transferred to Barcelona?
Reports indicate that Barcelona are in a financially sticky spot when it comes to buying #Rashford, as they would have to offload some of their players to meet his expectations, market value, and the value of his salary package.
Sometimes, really good players expect (and are even worth) hefty salaries, which clubs that are often heavily invested in their current squads, cannot afford. Moreover, these clubs have to adhere to strict financial rules, which may limit them from exceeding certain caps when acquiring players.
Even more, Barça coach Hansi Flick, according to analysts, is also currently satisfied with the players in his camp, and reports say that he is not pressuring management for new signings.

Therefore, the prospects of a Rashford Transfer (to Barça or elsewhere) remain slim, even as Rashford may be feeling that his time at United has come to an end. Even so, The Independent reports that Rashford is considering a move to Juventus on loan, giving Barcelona time to buy him long-term.
The solution? Rashford should fall in line with Amorim’s plan, as it is the only way he’ll get back on the pitch consistently. Failure to do so, he may be forced to transfer to a club that he does not like, and for a salary that is much lower than what he is currently earning at United; a lose-lose situation in my view.
