Spain have lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy after beating Croatia 5-4 on penalties. The win came after both teams finished level in both normal and extra time, pushing the game into penalties. Spain didn’t disappoint, however, with their keeper proving very useful and giving them an advantage.

Spain Win the UEFA Nations League Title for the First Time
Spain put on an incredible display of composure after their game against Croatia ended level on a 0-0 draw going on to win the Nations League for the first time. Spain and Croatia then went into extra time, but the goal gods weren’t providing, prompting the game into penalties. When the penalties came, both Spain and Croatia had missed a penalty each after both taking five penalties.

Spain Goalkeeper Unai Simon Proves Super Useful as the Spaniards Win the 2023 Nations League
Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simon didn’t disappoint, however, going on to save Croatia’s sixth penalty. This gave the Spaniards the opportunity to get an edge with Dani Carvajal taking to the spot to make his attempt at goal. Carvajal came through, hitting an easy-going penalty that saw the inside of the net, winning the Spaniards the UEFA Nations League trophy this year.

Italy Beat Netherlands to Come Third in this Year’s Nations League
On their part, Italy beat the Netherlands 3-2 to win the 3rd place spot in the UEFA Nations League this year. Italy played an impressive game, with Federico Dimarco opening the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by Davide Frattesi who made it 2-0 in the 20th minute. Netherland’s Steven Bergwijn then scored their first in the 68th minute as Federico Chiesa came on to score Italy’s third and winning goal in the 72nd minute. Georginio Wijnaldum scored the second for the Netherlands in the 89th minute.

Rodri Lauded for His Contribution to Spain’s Nations League Win
Man City and Spain forward Rodri was lauded for his contribution to Spain’s wonderful run in the Nations League by being named the player of the final.
