EPL Gameweek 8 just went down this past weekend and the highlight of the week was the clash between Arsenal and Manchester City. Arsenal, the all-time Man City contenders ate this match, in what started as an equalling of strengths. EPL GW 8 also saw Liverpool draw Brighton with wins for Chelsea, Spurs, and Manchester United. Here’s all the action.
Arsenal Trample Manchester City in an Explosive Weekend of Football
EPL GW 8 brought us the mother of all matches with Arsenal facing off with Manchester City in what was set to be an epic. The match started with both teams seemingly equalling each other in strength despite Arsenal missing the services of Bukayo Saka.
Come the second half, things quickly started ramping up with multiple attempts at goal and none coming to fruition. It was then that Gabriel Martinelli stepped up in the 86th minute and gave Arsenal a legendary winning goal, with the game ending with Arsenal 1, Manchester City 0.

Thank You Arteta!
Above everything, the win shows all teams in the Premier League that Manchester City can be beaten and for that, I think we should thank Arteta. Thank you Arteta!
Arsenal’s trampling of Man City also pays homage to Arsenal’s relentless efforts last season to catch up with and beat Man City. You can remember that Arsenal got a few points close to lifting the Premier League title and with the way they are playing, they may just be the champions come the end of this season.
Liverpool Draw Brighton
In another epic, Liverpool drew Brighton 2-2. Simon Adingra put Brighton ahead in the 20th minute, with Lewis Dunk scoring their second in the 78th minute. For Liverpool, their main man was keen to do the thing.
Salah Brace
Liverpool’s fortunes glimmered thanks to a Mo Salah’s brace. Salah was impeccable and netted in his first in the 40th minute, before coming on at 45 + 1’ to convert a penalty. At the time, Liverpool were two ahead but come the second half, Lewis Dunk equalized for Brighton. Salah’s performance was sublime, however, and is what we expect of the Liverpool team as a whole.

Manchester United Beat Brentford: Greatest Man United Comeback of All Time?
In another of EPL GW 8’s marvels, Manchester United pulled off what is perhaps their greatest comeback, coming from 1 behind to beat Brentford 2-1. Mathias Jensen quickly opened the scoring for Brentford in the 26th minute, sending all of United in a panic for the rest of normal time.
McTominay Brace Sets Up Man United for Perhaps Their Greatest Comeback
Things looked very bleak for Man United as the game went into extra time. Who knew, however, that Scott McTominay would shore up for the club in a spectacular way? McTominay put in a late late brace, scoring his first in 90 + 3’ to equalize for United and at least salvage a point, before coming back to score their winner in 90 + 7’.

McTominay’s performance was as shocking as it was stunning. United had done it! The ‘Red Devils’ had shown their fire and man do we pray that this is the beginning of a new era for the club. As a Man United fan myself, I am very proud of Man United even as I do not feel that beating a newly minted team such as Brentford warrants too much celebration.
Chelsea Beat Burnley
In another case of a phoenix rising from the ashes, Chelsea pulled off an impressive win, beating Burnley a handsome 4-1. Burnley’s Wilson Odobert opened the scoring for his club in the 15th minute but no one had an idea the storm that was about to hit them.
Things started unraveling for Burnley when their player Ameen Al-Dakhil scored an own goal in the 42nd minute before they gave away a penalty ten minutes later. Cole Palmer converted the penalty beautifully for Chelsea, marking their second goal and their first other than the Burnley own goal.

Then came Raheem Sterling who put in their third in the 65th minute, a goal that was quickly topped off, to make it a total of four for Chelsea, by Nicolas Jackson who scored in the 74th minute.
10-Man Spurs Beat Luton
As it’s become custom both in Spurs winning and Luton Town losing, Tottenham beat Luton Town 1-0. Spurs’ winning goal came from Mick Van de Ven who stepped up for the club in the 52nd minute. Things, however, had gotten a little shaky as Spurs’ Yves Bissouma had been sent off in 45 + 4’ and Spurs were left with ten men. Despite this, Spurs secured the 3 points and are now atop the EPL Table.

Newcastle Draw West Ham
In another game we had our eyes peeled watching, Newcastle United drew West Ham 2-2, with Tomas Soucek opening the scoring for West Ham in just the 8th minute of the game.
Isak Brace
Alexander Isak then came on to spruce things up for Newcastle, scoring a brace. Isak netted in his first in the 57th minute, before putting in a second five minutes later. Newcastle were seemingly in for the win but West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus equalized for his team in the 89th minute.
