Hello and welcome to another installment of UCL Updates on Mania Africa. Matchday 6 of the Group Stages in the Champions League was just concluded this week and here are the teams that qualified for the round of 16 from each group.
Group A
From Group A, Bayern and Copenhagen qualified for the round of 16, with Galatasaray and Manchester United dropping out. This was after Bayern beat Man United 1-0 in Matchday 6 of the Group Stages and Copenhagen beating Galatasaray 1-0. Bayern got 16 points, Copenhagen 8, Galatasaray 5, and Manchester United 4.
Group B
In Group B, Arsenal and PSV qualified for the UCL round of 16, with Lens and Sevilla dropping out. This was after Lens beat Sevilla 2-1 in Matchday 6 of the Group Stages and PSV drew Arsenal 1-1. Arsenal got 13 points, PSV 9, Lens 8, and Sevilla 2.
Group C
In Group C, Real Madrid and Napoli qualified for the UCL Round of 16, with Braga and Union Berlin dropping out. On Matchday 6 of the Group Stages, Real Madrid beat Union Berlin 3-2, and Napoli beat Braga 2-0. Real qualified with 18 points and Napoli with 10. Braga was third with 4 points and Union Berlin fourth with 2 points.
Group D
In Group D, Real Sociedad and Inter Milan qualified for the Round of 16, with Benfica and RB Salzburg dropping out. Inter drew Real Sociedad 0-0 on Matchday 6 while Benfica beat RB Salzburg 3-1. Real Madrid got 12 points, as did Inter Milan with Benfica coming in third with 4 points and RB Salzburg fourth, also with 4 points.
Group E
For Group E, Atletico Madrid and Lazio qualified for the Round of 16, while Feyenoord and Celtic dropped out. In Matchday 6 of the Group Stages, Atletico Madrid beat Lazio 2-0, while Celtic beat Feyenoord 2-1. Atletico tops the group with 14 points, followed by Lazio who have 10. Feyenoord came in third with 6 points and Celtic fourth with 4 points.
Group F
In Group F, BVB Dortmund and PSG qualified for the Round of 16, with Inter Milan and Newcastle dropping off. BVB drew PSG 1-1 in Matchday 6 of the Group Stages, while Inter Milan beat Newcastle 2-1. BVB tops the group with 11 points, followed by PSG with 8. Inter Milan came in third with 8 points, and Newcastle fourth with 5 points.
Group G
For Group G, UCL defending champions Manchester City and RB Leipzig qualified for the UCL Round of 16, with Young Boys and Crvena Zvezda dropping out. Man City beat Crvena Zvezda 3-2 in Matchday 6 of the Group Stages, while RB Leipzig beat Young Boys 2-1. City top off the group with 18 points, followed by RB Leipzig with 12 points. Young Boys come in third with 4 points and Crvena Zvezda come in fourth with just 1 point.
Group H
In Group H, Barcelona and Porto qualified for the UCL Round of 16, with Shakhtar Donetsk and Antwerp dropping out. Porto beat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-3 in Matchday 6 of the Group Stages as Antwerp beat Barcelona 3-2. Barca tops the table with 12 points, followed by Porto who also have 12 points. Shakhtar Donetsk come in third in the group with 9 points, and Antwerp fourth with just 3 points.
