EPL Gameweek 6 just went down this past weekend and it came packing a whole lot of action. Arsenal matched Tottenham, Chelsea remained under, with Manchester United finally bagging a long-awaited win. Man City and Liverpool, on their part, sailed through in a fantastic show of form. Here’s all the action.

Arsenal Match Tottenham

Arsenal found their match in Tottenham as the two teams clashed in the most enthralling match of EPL GW 6. Both teams were coming on with clean sheets, having managed to sail through the first few gameweeks of this season unscathed.

Oh Cristian, Oh Romero

Tottenham’s Cristian Romero gave Arsenal their first goal, thanks to his own goal in the 26th minute. As it seemed, Romero was out of his zone as his handball in the box gave Arsenal a penalty, that was beautifully converted by Bukayo Saka in the 54th minute.

Son Brace

Son Heung-Min came to Tottenham’s rescue however, scoring a wonderful brace. Son first went in to score in the 42nd minute, a cheeky yet effective tap-in, before making it two for himself and his club in the 55th minute. He effectively and single-handedly managed to bring Spurs to par with Arsenal, with both teams seeming to match strength and form. The game ended 2-2.

Ange vs Arteta

The clash between Spurs and Arsenal, if anything, signifies that Ange Postecoglou is such a phenomenal manager that he can be likened to super-tacticians like Mikel Arteta. Arteta is, without doubt, one of the best managers in the EPL right now, and his team drawing Ange’s Spurs is a testament to just how good a manager Spurs picked.

A Win for Man United, Finally!

Manchester United have been flailing for the longest time and their 1-0 win against Burnley was a sigh of relief, finally. There is a lot of criticism for United, even so, as Burnley is no team to celebrate beating for a club as statured and legendary as Man Utd.

Fab Bruno

Bruno Fernandes, or Fab Bruno, as we’ll now call him, converted a wonderful volley mid-air to deliver Man Utd their only goal in the 45th minute. Bruno, now MUFC captain, has shown such tremendous leadership at a time when Man Utd’s performance is as unpredictable as the movements of a windsock.

Pull Up ten Hag!

Erik ten Hag needs to pull up his socks. A win against Burnley is a win, yes, but it is nothing to be overtly proud of. Man United are still lacking in oomph and Lord knows if it’s the facilities, then maybe Old Trafford should be demolished and rebuilt afresh.

Triumph for Man City

Manchester City have continued their unbeaten run in the EPL thus far, going on to beat Nottingham Forest 2-0. Phil Foden opened the scoring for City in the 7th minute before Haaland took on a mid-air volley to score a brilliant header in the 14th minute.

Bad Rodri.. Bad Bad Boy!

Things then started unraveling for City, culminating in a red card for Rodri, who was sent off after an altercation with a Nottm player, Gibbs-White. Rodri had been so riled up that he almost put the poor Gibbs-White in a chokehold, prompting his red card. The incident is a terrible sign of cracks in City’s discipline, probably out of boisterousness after winning the treble. Whatever the case, City need to tone it down, and concentrate on winning games.

Liverpool Triumph Against West Ham

Another exciting fixture in EPL GW 6 was Liverpool vs West Ham that Liverpool ate 3-1. Things started kicking off quickly, with Mohamed Salah strongly converting a penalty for Liverpool in the 16th minute. Then came West Ham’s Jarred Bowen who scored an equalizer for West Ham in the 42nd minute.

Come the second half, Darwin Nunez was quick to put Liverpool ahead in the 60th minute before Diogo Jota added icing on the cake with his 85th-minute goal. The win is a beautiful show of form and strength for Liverpool and I am glad to see them on the up again. We have constantly complained in the past that Liverpool need to rediscover their inspiration.

Chelsea Still Under

Chelsea are still under a dark cloud after they went on to lose 1-0 to Aston Villa. Chelsea, now under Mauricio Pochettino, are still yet to get in rhythm with their new manager and are still at a loss. Ollie Watkins, in what was his first goal of the season, put AVL ahead in the 73rd minute. Villa, this time, bagged the points after going head-to-head with a weakened Chelsea.

Chelsea at a Loss

Chelsea are at a loss, no doubt, and this could be seen in their lack of virality, and in the mistakes they made during the game; chief of which was a Malo Gusto hardened tackle that saw him sent off the pitch.

Pochettino: “It is a Project”

According to Pochettino, Chelsea is a project that will take time to see their new ideas come to fruition and actually bear fruits. Pochettino recently admitted that the Chelsea today is not the Chelsea that won the Premier League or the Champions League and that it will take time for the team to get back to where it believes it can be.

A Mitoma of Blue: Brighton Beat Bournemouth

Brighton went on to beat Bournemouth 3-1 in EPL GW 6, hugely thanks to Kaoru Mitoma, or as we say, a Mitoma of blue. Dominic Solanke opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the 25th minute before a Milos Kerkez own goal equalized for Brighton.

A Brace of Blue

Kaoru Mitoma then came in to score a brace for Brighton, putting in his first in the 46th minute, and later topping it off with a second in the 77th minute. Mitoma played really well, signifying just how aptly prepared Brighton are. The team as a whole also played really well and despite flailing a few times recently, they now look to be ready to take on the league.

Octa-Trouble! Newcastle Hammer in 8 Against Sheffield United

Perhaps the most shocking game of EPL GW 6, Newcastle put on an incredible comeback of form to beat Sheffield United a whopping 8-0. It is funny because almost everyone in Newcastle got a goal against Sheffield, with 8 different players each scoring a goal to make the final tally. Here’s a list of the goalscorers and the time they scored.

  • Sean Longstaff 21’
  • Dan Burn 31’
  • Sven Botman 35’
  • Callum Wilson 56’
  • Anthony Gordon 61’
  • Miguel Almiron 68’
  • Bruno Guimaraes 73’
  • Alexander Isak 87’

Let it be noted that this is the first goal list we’ve done here on Mania Sports. There isn’t much to say about Newcastle other than: WOW!

Everton beat Brentford 3-1 with Abdoulaye Doucoure opening the scoring for Everton in the 6th minute and Mathias Jensen equalizing for Brentford in the 28th minute. James Tarkowski then made it two for Everton in minute 67, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it three in the 71st minute.
