The 94th Academy Awards or Oscars were the most diverse and also greatly uncriticized meaning that this time the academy did a good job of choosing its winners. The awards show also saw some drama as Will Smith smacked Chris Rock.

His night at the academy awards was far more interesting, however, as he got physical with Chris Rock who made a distasteful joke about his wife Jada Pinkett. Rock referenced the movie ‘G.I. Jane’, comparing Jada to the movie’s shaved-head actress. Jada suffers from a condition known as alopecia which is characterized by hair loss. Will Smith literally woke up, marched onto the stage, and slapped the heck out of Chris Rock. Albeit one slap, we heard it and then he walked back to his seat.

On seating down, he kept repeating “Keep my wife’s name out your f*cking mouth.” Apparently, Rock had made it a habit of making bad jokes and almost insults at Jada and he and Will Smith had had a simmering beef for a while. Will Smith later came on stage to apologize to the Oscars and to his fellow nominees saying that he wanted to be a ‘vessel of love.’
