Yeah! Man United has a new coach… A NEW coach… Finally! We have lamented time and time again that what Manchester United needs is new direction and we are super glad that Sir. Jim Ratcliffe, and the folks at INEOS, finally listened. Manchester United fired Erik ten Hag on 28th October, much to the relief of many of us Man United fans. We are super glad he’s gone even though we appreciate the work he did (or rather tried to do) at Man United.
Manchester United Announce New Head Coach Ruben Amorim
Man United yesterday announced that Ruben Amorim would be taking over as the club’s new manager, much to the joy of fans. Little is known about Amorim but at this point, anyone (other than ten Hag) is good enough to be manager.
Amorim’s appointment is, however, pegged on his attaining work visa qualification, a legal requirement for any foreign national coming to work in the UK. Even so, the process should be seamless and Manchester United and especially the boys, can look forward to a new era.
2-Year Contract for New Man Utd Coach Ruben Amorim
Man United have awarded Ruben Amorim a two year contract, that will end in June 2027 but with the option for renewal for an additional year. Amorim is “highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP,” as per United’s press release announcing his appointment.
United also heralded him as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football.” This is yet to be seen of course, and in our ‘What will it take to end the mediocrity at Man United?‘ post, we noted that it is not always the case that foreign coaches do well in English Football.
Even so, Amorim is good and Ratcliffe and INEOS, I am sure, couldn’t just pick anyone to bolster their new investment. After all, they are in it to ensure it bears fruit. Recall the #GlazersOut movement?

We are, nonetheless, hoping for the very best. The fans deserve it, the club’s new investors do too but most of all, the players deserve a new manager. Utd players such as Alejandro Garnacho are poised to do very very well, with the right leadership and direction. They have heart.

Ruud van Nistelrooy Leaves Man United
Former Utd player and legend, Ruud van Nistelrooy has left Man United. He’d been part of the coaching team under ten Hag and was, until Ruben Amorim’s appointment, the caretaker manager for United.
New manager Amorim has said that he is under “no illusion” that the club needs a total overhaul; probably why he booted Nistelrooy off the coaching team.
United had this to say about Ruud’s departure: “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend“. It seems that Amorim recognized that the club’s alumni have been overbearing on the club and probably also on the players.

It is not justifiable that a club with such fervor can finish an English Premier League season at 8th place. It is simply unacceptable.
