EPL Gameweek 4 has been fireee!!! In what seems a capping of strong season starts for Man City, Tottenham, and Brighton, the three put on such strong performances, each including a hat trick. EPL GW 4 comes just before a 2-week international break and the teams were out to secure as many points as they could, to ensure comfortable positions in the EPL Table.

Manchester Cityyyyy! Manchester Manchester Cityyyyyyy!!!

Hat trick number one went to Manchester City with ‘goal machine’ Erling Haaland doing the business like the rent was due. Haaland put on an impeccable performance, scoring his record 7th hat trick in a Man City shirt, and his first for the season. Man City beat Fulham 5-1.

Julian Alvarez scored Man City’s first in the 31st minute, with Nathan Ake coming on to score a controversial second just before halftime. Come the second half, Haaland put in his first in the 58th minute. He was not done and 12 minutes later, he took to the penalty spot where he converted, before drying his ink on the scoreboard with a third in stoppage time. Tim Ream scored Fulham’s only reprieve goal in the 33rd minute.

Goal Machine Haaland

Haaland has proven yet again that he’s a ‘goal machine’. His prowess is unmatched and he recently won the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award. Man City have also collectively performed impeccably well, noting that GW 4’s performance comes at a time when coach Pep Guardiola is away due to health reasons. City are now set for what is shaping up to be a title defense.

A Spurs Like We’ve Never Seen Before

Hat trick number two went to Tottenham Hotspurs whose captain Son Heung-Ming scored what was a breathtaking hat trick as the team beat Burnley a handsome 5-2. Lyle Foster opened the scoring for Burnley in the 4th minute with Josh Brownhill scoring their second in stoppage time.

The highlight of the game, however, was Son Heung-Ming’s hat trick. Son opened the scoring for Spurs in the 16th minute with his first, before coming on to score his second in the 63rd minute. He quickly followed it up with a third 3 minutes later.

As if that was not enough, Cristian Romero had made it two for Spurs just before halftime and James Maddison, signee elite, scored another and Spurs’ third in the 54th minute. It was then that Son Heung-Ming scored his last two, making it 5.

Ange… Ange Post.. Ange Postcoglou

This man Ange Postecoglou is gonna bring it like we’ve never seen it before. I am baffled that this is the same Tottenham that Antonio Conte condemned last season for not having fight in them. Whoooaaa… Ange has managed to turn the team around and going by how well they are playing, I can see Tottenham in the top 3 this season. Trust you me.

Teen Trouble: Brighton Show Newcastle How Soccer is Played

Perhaps the most exciting hat trick of EPL GW 4, Brighton’s teenager, Evan Ferguson, an 18-year-old boy, scored his first senior hat trick (meaning his first as a senior player) as Brighton went on to hammer Newcastle United 3-1.

Evan opened the scoring for Roberto De Zerbi’s men in the 27th minute. By halftime, we were all shocked at how poorly Newcastle were playing, with their defense having become porous. Even worse, Newcastle were wasting chances left, right, and center, and I am sure their coach Eddie Howe was livid at halftime. When they came back, Evan added two to his tally, scoring his second in the 65th minute, and his third in the 70th minute. Evan now becomes the fourth youngest player to score a Premier League hat trick.

Newcastle were at a loss, and 10 minutes after halftime, their subs started streaming in. Callum Wilson was subbed in later and went on to score Newcastle’s lone goal in stoppage time. Yesterday’s was one of Newcastle’s worst performances under Howe and we are now a little bit worried about how they will fare in the Champions League, having been drawn in the group of death.

A Pitiful Loss for Chelsea

In what was a gory GW 4 for Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino’s men suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. Chelsea, despite having flexed their muscles in the just-concluded transfer window, couldn’t put together a good enough force to tackle Nottm.

Nottingham, on their part, had just transferred their star player Brennan Johnson to Spurs, and we’d thought this would have automatically made them a walkover for Chelsea. Apparently Not!

Recent Nottm signing from Man United, Anthony Elanga, who was brought in to plug the vacuum left by Brennan, turned out to be the star of the match, scoring Nottm’s winning goal in the 48th minute. Elanga had been benched to smithereens at Man Utd but he’s now getting some sunlight at Forest.

Double Twos: Brentford Draw Bournemouth as Everton Draw Sheffield United

In other EPL GW 4 matches played thus far, Brentford drew Bournemouth 2-2, with Mathias Jensen scoring for Brentford in the 7th minute and Bryan Mbeumo making it two in stoppage time. Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke equalized in the 30th minute before David Brooks made it two in the 77th minute.

In the same breath, Everton drew Sheffield United 2-2, with Abdoulaye Doucure opening the scoring for Everton in the 14th minute and new signing Arnaut Danjuma, scoring his first PL goal for Everton with their second in the 55th minute. For Sheffield, Cameron Archer opened with their first in the 33rd minute, before their keeper Jordan Pickford scored an own goal just before halftime.

West Ham Beat Luton Town

New league entrants, Luton Town still couldn’t get a breather, after they were beaten 2-1 by West Ham. Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring for West Ham in the 37th minute, with Kurt Zouma making it two in the 85th minute. Luton Town’s Mads Juel Andersen scored their only reprieve goal in stoppage time.
