Manchester United beat Sunderland 2-0 in today’s EPL GW 7 Results, and we can’t help but wonder… Is the Manchester United of Old back? Can manager Ruben Amorim revive the legendary English football giant?
Man United 2:0 West Ham: A Good Result for Man United at Last!
In today’s Premier League 25-26 Gameweek 7 games, Manchester United did the unexpected and beat Sunderland 2-0.
Mason Mount opened the scoring for United in the 8th minute, before Benjamin Sesko upped the ante and made it 2-0, a huge success for United given their long-running poor performance.
At the time of writing, Manchester United are now 8th in the Premier League Standings, with 10 points. For once, Man United tie (in points) with Man City who are 7th in the EPL Table, also with 10 points. United are followed by Chelsea, who are 9th with 8 points.
Update (01:53 10/5/25):
Chelsea went on to beat Liverpool 2-1, and got up to 6th in the EPL Table, now with 11 points. Liverpool, in turn, are now 2nd with 15 points.
Arsenal are still leading EPL Standings with 16 points. As a result of these #EPL GW 7 results, Man United have dropped to 9th in standings, still with 10 points.
2 Weeks, 2 Goals: What’s Behind Sesko’s Impact at United?
Today’s result is a stark contrast to EPL GW 6 that saw a United loss to Brentford. Brentford beat #ManUnited 3-1, with Man United’s only goal coming from B. Sesko. Sesko is having a huge impact at the club and was also on the scoreboard today, netting his second United goal… Why, you might ask?
My take is that it is because he’s new. Maybe that’s what Manchester United need; new blood. Looking at the club’s performance for the last 1–3 years, maybe Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS should just completely do away with the old and bring in a fresh roster of players, club staff, board and management, etc.
Maybe Manchester United needs to kill its current club culture and allow their mindset to be reborn anew. Is that even possible? At what point does legacy become luggage and a burden? Let us know in the comments.

Does Man Utd Coach Ruben Amorim Have What it Takes to Take the Club Back to Its Glory Days
Before I even speculate, maybe we are looking at this all wrong… I don’t think Manchester United needs to go back to the old days.
What #MUFC needs, I think, is radical renewal. A complete overhaul of the current system, management, staff, mindset… Heck, even the curtains and office furniture should be upgraded!
That’s what I think Manchester United really needs… A radical recall and a disruptive upgrade.
Maybe that’s what the club’s new owners, and the football management team, have failed to do, i.e., institute a disruptive, radical upgrade (and renewal).

Out With The Old, In With The New
Instead of trying to be too respectful to the club’s legacy, so much so that it bears inaction, maybe it’s better to just disrupt everything and upend the club’s football and football management culture.
Maybe it’s not so much about how good Ruben Amorim is?
My take: the club needs to find a new identity; a new soul.
