Manchester United and Juventus have just booked a slot in the Europa League Quarterfinals as Arsenal lost out to Sporting CP on penalties. Leg 2 of the Europa League Round of 16 just came to a close, and we now have a clear picture of who’s heading to the Europa League Quarterfinals.

Manchester United Reinforce their Lead Against Real Betis

In their Europa League Round of 16 Leg 2 match, Manchester United reinforced their lead against Real Betis after winning the match 1-0. United’s only goal was scored by Marcus Rashford in the 55th minute, helping United secure a spot in the Europa League Quarterfinals, and reinforce their 4-1 lead in the first leg of the Round of 16. United won 5-1 on aggregate.

Juventus Send SC Freiburg Packing

Juventus, on their part, sent SC Freiburg packing after winning their Leg 2 game 2-0. Juve’s goals were scored by Dusan Vlahovic in the 45th minute via a penalty, and Federico Chiesa in stoppage time. Juventus’ 2-1 lead bolstered their 1-0 Leg 1 performance, propelling them to the Europa League Quarterfinals with a 3-0 lead aggregate.

Arsenal Loses Out to Sporting CP and Misses Out on the Europa League Quarterfinals

Arsenal lost out to Sporting CP on penalties, after drawing with the team 1-1 even after extra time. Arsenal’s goal was Granit Xhaka in the 19th minute, as Sporting’s was scored by Pedro Goncalves in the 62nd minute.

Goncalves’ goal is arguably the best goal of the tournament so far and was a near-mid ground effort that caught Arsenal keeper Ramsdale away from the goal. The two teams then had to go to penalties where Arsenal lost 5-3 after Gabriel Martinelli missed a penalty. Sporting now proceed to the Europa League Quarterfinals with a 4(5)-4(3) aggregate lead as Arsenal miss out.

Roma Qualify for the Europa League Quarterfinals Despite a Goalless Draw with Real Sociedad

Roma, on their part, were lucky to have been leading, due to their 2-0 performance in Leg 1, as neither they nor Real Sociedad were able to score during their Leg 2 game. What this meant is that Roma had to rely on their Leg 1 victory which was sure to secure them a spot in the Europa League Quarterfinals.

Feyenoord were perhaps the strongest team of the night as they shattered Shakhtar Donetsk 7-1. The team was seemingly on fire and went on a rampage against Donetsk. The result was a huge boost to their 1-1 draw during the Leg 1 match and a much-deserved ticket to the Europa League Quarterfinals.

Sevilla Book a Spot in Europa League Quarterfinals Despite Loss

Sevilla lost 1-0 to Fenerbahce in yesterday’s Leg 2 match but were suited by their 2-0 lead in the First Leg which proved enough to book them a coveted spot in the Europa League Quarterfinals. Sevilla have been playing well even as they may need to up the ante in the quarterfinals.

Leverkusen Best Ferencvaros

Leverkusen played a wonderful match in the Europa League Round of 16 Leg 2, winning 2-0 against Ferencvaros. Their goals were scored by Moussa Diaby and Amine Adli. This lead was a boost to their Leg 1 lead where they won 1-0, sending them to the Europa League Quarterfinals with a 3-0 aggregate lead.

Union Saint-Gilloise Proceed to the Europa League Quarterfinals with a Healthy Lead

Union Saint-Gilloise secured a spot in the Europa League Quarterfinals after beating Union Berlin 3-0 in their Round of 16 Leg 2 match. What this meant is that they added a further 3 goals to their 3-3 tie with Union Berlin in Leg 1, and now head to the quarterfinals with a healthy 6-3 lead on aggregate.
